A single-herb liquid extract of dried bark of Cinnamomum verum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

True cinnamon comes from Sri Lanka and is a different article from the cassia sold under the same name in most of the world. The tree is coppiced hard, and the young shoots that spring up are cut, the coarse outer bark scraped away, and the thin inner bark peeled off in long sheets that curl as they dry and are nested inside one another into a quill. A Ceylon quill is pale tan, brittle, and made of many fine papery layers; a cassia stick is one thick dark hard curl. They also differ substantially in coumarin.

Glycerite: Cinnamomum verum dried bark, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Cinnamon may lower blood sugar — take care if you are on diabetes medication. Undiluted cinnamon preparations irritate skin and mucous membranes. Not for use in pregnancy in more than culinary amounts.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
