A single-ingredient liquid extract of the dried seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the seaweed

Knotted wrack is a brown seaweed of the North Atlantic intertidal, sold as kelp although strictly the kelps are a different order. It forms long leathery olive-brown straps with a single egg-shaped air bladder set at intervals along the frond, and since it makes one bladder a year you can read a frond's age off it like tree rings. It grows on sheltered rocky shores in Ireland, Scotland, Norway and Maine, where it is cut above the holdfast so that the plant regrows.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Kelp is naturally high in iodine. Do not use if you have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication without medical advice, and do not exceed the suggested amount — excess iodine can disturb thyroid function. Seaweeds can also concentrate heavy metals from seawater.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
