A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Brassica oleracea, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Broccoli is one of the many things bred out of a single species of wild sea cabbage, and what is eaten is an arrested flower head — hundreds of unopened buds on thickened stalks, which is why it turns yellow and useless if it is left a few days too long. This extract is made from the seed rather than the head. Broccoli seed is small, hard, round and dark reddish-brown, and it carries glucoraphanin, the precursor compound that broccoli sprouts are grown for.

Glycerite: Brassica oleracea dried seed, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

People with a thyroid condition should be aware that brassica glucosinolates can affect iodine uptake in quantity. Do not exceed the suggested amount.
