A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Lagerstroemia speciosa, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Banaba is a large deciduous tree of the Philippines, southern China and mainland Southeast Asia, and a relative of the garden crape-myrtles. For a few weeks each year it carries dense upright panicles of crinkled pink-purple flowers over the whole crown, which is where the names queen's crape-myrtle and pride of India come from. Its oblong leathery leaves turn red before they drop. The bark peels in flakes to leave a smooth pale trunk, and the timber is used for boat building across the region.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
