A single-herb liquid extract of dried bark of Viburnum opulus, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

The guelder rose carries flat lacecap heads in which the outer ring of large showy white flowers is sterile and produces nothing at all; its job is to advertise for the tiny fertile flowers packed in the middle. The leaves are three-lobed and maple-like, turning wine red in autumn, and the berries hang in translucent scarlet bunches that stay on into winter. The bark, which is what is collected, is peeled from young stems.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy without the guidance of a midwife or practitioner. Cramp bark may lower blood pressure; speak to a practitioner first if you take medication for it, or if you have a history of kidney stones.
