A single-herb liquid extract of dried herb of Chenopodium ambrosioides, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Chenopodium Ambrosioides, known as Wormseed, Jesuit's Tea, Mexican-tea, Payqu (Paico), Epazote, or Herba Sancti Mariæ, is native to Central America, South America, and southern Mexico. Epazote is an annual or short-lived perennial plant (herb), growing to 1.2 m (3.9 ft) tall, irregularly branched, with oblong-lanceolate leaves up to 12 cm (4.7 in) long. The flowers are small and green, produced in a branched panicle at the apex of the stem. As well as in its native areas, it is grown in warm temperate to subtropical areas of Europe and the United States, sometimes becoming an invasive weed.

Ingredients

Tincture: Chenopodium ambrosioides dried herb, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Chenopodium ambrosioides dried herb, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Epazote contains ascaridole, which is toxic in large amounts. Do not exceed the suggested dose and do not use for longer than a few days without a break. Never take epazote (chenopodium) essential oil internally. Avoid if you have liver or kidney disease.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
