A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Ginkgo biloba, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

This is ginkgo seed, which is a different article from the leaf. Ginkgo is dioecious, and only female trees produce it: a fleshy pale-orange seed coat that falls in autumn and smells overpoweringly of rancid butter as it decays, which is why cities plant male trees. Inside that coat is a smooth ivory-coloured nut, and it is that nut — ginkgo nut, ginnan, baiguo — that is roasted and eaten in East Asia, and that this extract is made from. It is not interchangeable with the leaf.

Tincture: Ginkgo biloba dried seed, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Ginkgo biloba dried seed, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

This is ginkgo SEED, not leaf, and the two are not interchangeable. Ginkgo seed contains ginkgotoxin (4-O-methylpyridoxine), which interferes with vitamin B6 and has caused convulsions when eaten in quantity, particularly in children. Do not exceed the suggested amount, do not give it to children, and do not use it during pregnancy. If you want the leaf preparation, that is a separate product.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
