A single-herb liquid extract of dried seeds of Eschscholzia californica, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

These are the seeds of the California poppy rather than the herb. The plant is the state flower of California and carpets whole hillsides orange in a wet spring, with blue-green dissected foliage and satiny four-petalled flowers that close at night and in cloud. Each flower leaves a long slim ribbed capsule that dries and splits explosively, flinging out a scatter of minute round dark seeds.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

California poppy can cause drowsiness. Do not drive after taking it, do not combine it with alcohol, sedatives or MAO inhibitors, and do not use it in pregnancy.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
