A single-herb liquid extract of dried root of Oplopanax horridus, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Devil's club is exactly as unpleasant to walk into as it sounds. It is a sprawling shrub of the wet coastal forest from Alaska down to Oregon, growing in thickets along creeks with stems two or three metres long, covered from top to bottom in brittle yellowish spines that break off in the skin. Its leaves are huge and maple-shaped, and it carries a pyramid of scarlet berries in late summer. It is in the ivy family, a relative of ginseng and eleuthero, and it holds a central place in the practice of many Northwest Coast peoples.

Tincture: Oplopanax horridus dried root, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Oplopanax horridus dried root, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Devil's club may lower blood sugar; take care if you are on diabetes medication.
