A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Aloe ferox, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Aloe Ferox, known as the Cape Aloe, Bitter Aloe, Red Aloe and Tap Aloe, is a species of arborescent aloe indigenous to southern Africa. It is one of several Aloe species, that can grow to 10 feet (3.0 m) in height. Its leaves are thick and fleshy, arranged in rosettes, and have reddish-brown spines on the margins with smaller spines on the upper and lower surfaces. Aloe Ferox flowers are orange or red, and stand between 2 and 4 feet (0.61 and 1.22 m) above the leaves, in multi-branched inflorescences.

Ingredients

Tincture: Aloe ferox dried leaf, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Aloe ferox dried leaf, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Whole aloe leaf contains aloin, a stimulant laxative. Do not use for more than one week without medical supervision, and do not use if you have abdominal pain of unknown cause, intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease or appendicitis. Not for children under 12 and not for use in pregnancy.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
