Borotutu is traditional medicine made from the African tree Cochlospermum angolense. Cochlospermum angolense is a tree in the family Bixaceae. It is native to Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where it is known as Mburututu in the Chokwe and Kimbundu languages. Borututu root is claimed to have hepatic healing properties and general cleansing effect. The root showed activity against the rodent malaria parasite Plasmodium berghei in laboratory tests.*
