A single-herb liquid extract of dried roots of Yucca glauca, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Soapweed yucca is a Great Plains plant, a rosette of stiff narrow blue-green leaves each ending in a hard spine, with a tall spike of creamy pendulous bells. It has one of the tightest partnerships in botany: it is pollinated only by yucca moths, which gather pollen deliberately, pack it onto the stigma, and lay eggs in the ovary so that their larvae eat some of the resulting seed. Neither can reproduce without the other. The roots are rich in saponins and lather in water, which is the whole of the name.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Yucca is rich in saponins and can irritate the gut; take it well diluted and do not exceed the suggested amount. Not for use in pregnancy.
