A single-herb liquid extract of dried seeds of Silybum marianum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Milk thistle is a big handsome annual thistle of the Mediterranean, up to two metres, and unmistakable: its glossy dark green leaves are veined and marbled with brilliant white, as if milk had been spilled along the veins, which is precisely the legend attached to it. The flower heads are large, purple, and defended by long stiff spines that curve outward. The seeds are hard, shiny and dark brown with a pale ring at the top, and they are what is collected.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

People allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums or other Asteraceae may react to milk thistle. It may affect how the liver clears some medicines and may lower blood sugar.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
