A single-herb liquid extract of dried plant material of Capsicum annuum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

A chipotle is a jalapeno that has been left on the plant to ripen deep red, then smoked slowly over wood for several days until it is dry, hard and leathery. The smoking is not a flavour afterthought but the way the thick-walled ripe fruit can be preserved at all — it will not air-dry before it rots. The result is dark brown, wrinkled and smells of woodsmoke and tobacco before any heat registers.

Ingredients

Tincture: Capsicum annuum, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Capsicum annuum, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Capsaicin is a strong irritant. Take this well diluted and never undiluted; it can burn the mouth, throat and stomach lining. Keep it away from eyes and broken skin and wash your hands after handling it. Not suitable if you have stomach or duodenal ulcers, heartburn or inflammatory bowel disease. It may add to the effect of anticoagulant and blood-pressure medicines. Not for children.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
