A single-herb liquid extract of dried roots of Eurycoma longifolia, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Tongkat ali is a slender understorey tree of Malaysian and Indonesian rainforest, growing to about ten metres with an unbranched trunk topped by a crown of long pinnate leaves. The part that is traded is the taproot, which goes down a long way and has to be dug out whole, so harvesting ends the tree. It takes four years at minimum before a root is worth lifting, and rather longer before it is worth much. The wood is pale and the root extremely bitter — the Malay name means Ali's walking stick.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use by anyone under 18, during pregnancy, or by anyone with a hormone-sensitive condition. Do not exceed the suggested amount, and speak to a practitioner first if you take medication for blood pressure or diabetes.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
