A single-herb liquid extract of dried fruits of Amomum tsaoko, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Cao guo is the big rough one of the cardamom family. Where true cardamom gives small pale pods, this Yunnan and northern Vietnamese species produces a fruit the size of a date, dark red-brown, deeply ribbed and tough, holding a dense cluster of hard seeds. It is normally smoked or fire-dried rather than sun-dried, which leaves it with a distinct smoky note, and it is a fixture of Yunnan and Sichuan braises.

Glycerite: Amomum tsaoko dried fruits, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy in more than culinary amounts. Not suitable if you have stomach or duodenal ulcers.
