A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaves of Petroselinum crispum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Parsley is a biennial umbellifer of the eastern Mediterranean grown in two forms — flat-leaved and curled — that are the same species selected in different directions. It is notorious among gardeners for germinating slowly and erratically, sometimes taking six weeks, which produced a whole body of folklore about the seed having to go to the devil and back before it comes up. Left to its second year it bolts, flowers in flat yellow-green umbels, and the leaf turns bitter.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy in more than culinary amounts — parsley in quantity stimulates the uterus. Not for use by anyone with kidney disease. It contains furanocoumarins and can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, and it may add to the effect of anticoagulants.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
