A single-herb liquid extract of dried rhizome of Smilax china, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Ba qia is the rhizome of a Chinese greenbrier, a woody climber that hauls itself through scrub using hooked prickles on the stems and a pair of long tendrils at the base of every leaf. Below ground it makes a hard, irregular, knobbly rhizome, reddish-brown outside, which is cut into hard slices. The leaves are round and leathery with the three or five curved parallel veins that mark the family.

Glycerite: Smilax china dried rhizome, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
