A single-herb liquid extract of dried flowers of Calendula officinalis, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Pot marigold is not a marigold. The bedding marigolds of the garden centre are Tagetes, from Mexico; this is Calendula, a Mediterranean annual that has never been found growing wild anywhere and exists only in cultivation. It flowers almost without stopping in a mild climate, which is where the name comes from — calendae, the first day of every month. The flowerheads are flat orange or yellow discs of ray florets, the foliage is sticky and faintly aromatic, and the seeds are curved and ridged like small caterpillars. Cooks have used the petals for centuries as a poor household's saffron, to colour butter, cheese and broth.

Tincture: Calendula officinalis dried flowers, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Calendula officinalis dried flowers, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

People allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds or other Asteraceae may react to calendula. Not for use in pregnancy.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
