A single-herb liquid extract of dried root of Chamaelirium luteum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

False unicorn is an eastern North American woodland perennial with a flat rosette of spoon-shaped leaves and a single slender spike of tiny white flowers. Male and female grow on separate plants and look quite different: the male spike arches over into a nodding curve, the female stands straight, and it is that arching male spike that gave the plant its name. It takes years to reach flowering size from seed, and because only the root is traded, a harvest ends the plant. It is on the United Plant Savers at-risk list and is genuinely scarce in the wild.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

False unicorn is on the United Plant Savers at-risk list. It is slow from seed and harvesting the root ends the plant, so we buy only from growers and rotational wild harvesters. Not for use during pregnancy. Large amounts cause nausea and vomiting.
