A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Descurainia sophia, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Flixweed is a tall thin cabbage-family weed of waste ground and old arable land right across the northern hemisphere, with leaves cut so finely that they look like grey-green lace and a long wand of very small pale yellow flowers. The pods are slender and upcurved and hold a great many minute reddish seeds, which is what is gathered. The seed swells and turns slippery in water within seconds of being wetted.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Flixweed seed is a strong diuretic and has a laxative action; take it with plenty of liquid, keep to the suggested amount and stop use if the stool loosens. Not for use if you have impaired kidney or heart function with fluid retention. Not for use in pregnancy.
