About the plant

Joe-Pye weed is a tall North American wetland perennial, standing to two metres in wet meadows and along stream banks, with coarse lance-shaped leaves set in whorls of three to five around a stout stem and a broad domed head of dusty mauve-pink flowers in late summer that butterflies work heavily. Botanists moved it out of Eupatorium into Eutrochium, so both names are still in circulation.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

For external use in cosmetic and topical preparations. Shake well before use. Blend into a carrier oil, balm, salve, cream or soap base at the rate your formulation calls for. Patch-test on a small area of intact skin and wait 24 hours before wider use.

For external use only. Do not take internally. Joe-Pye weed contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which damage the liver if swallowed. Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds or near the eyes. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
