A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Nelumbo nucifera, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

A lotus leaf is held clear of the water on a stiff stalk and is covered in microscopic wax pillars, so a drop of water cannot wet it and instead rolls off as a bead, picking up dirt on the way. The effect is so complete that it is named after the plant, and it is copied directly in self-cleaning paints and water-repellent fabrics. Leaves are cut in summer and dried, and in southern China they are also used fresh to wrap rice for steaming, which perfumes it.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Lotus leaf may lower blood pressure and blood sugar.
