A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Elettaria cardamomum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Cardamom does not fruit where you would expect. The plant is a large ginger relative of the Western Ghats with tall leafy shoots, but the flowers and pods are carried on a separate wiry shoot that creeps out along the ground from the base, so the crop lies in the leaf litter. The pods ripen unevenly and split if left too long, so a plantation is picked over by hand every two or three weeks through the season, which is a large part of why cardamom costs what it does.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy in more than culinary amounts. Cardamom may lower blood sugar and may add to the effect of anticoagulants; do not use if you have gallstones.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
