A single-herb liquid extract of dried root of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Zhi mu is a plant of dry sandy grassland and sunny hillsides in northern China and Mongolia, and it looks like a coarse tuft of grass until it flowers: narrow leathery leaves in a dense clump, then a tall bare stalk carrying small pale purple flowers that open in the evening and are strongly scented. The rhizome beneath is flattened, yellowish-brown, and covered in the golden bristly remains of old leaf bases.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Zhi mu may lower blood sugar; take care if you are on diabetes medication.
