A single-herb liquid extract of dried mushroom of Grifola frondosa, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Maitake grows at the foot of old oaks as a great rosette of overlapping grey-brown fronds, and a single clump can weigh a good many kilos. It comes back to the same tree year after year, which is why foragers keep the locations to themselves and why the Japanese name, dancing mushroom, is usually explained by the reaction of the person who finds one. It is a bracket fungus, and it eventually kills the tree it lives on.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Maitake may lower blood sugar and may add to the effect of anticoagulants. Not for use by anyone taking immunosuppressants. People with a mould allergy may react to mushroom extracts.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
