About the plant

Prickly poppy is prickly everywhere — stems, leaf edges, veins and the buds themselves are all armed with spines, and the blue-grey leaves are marked with pale veins. Break a stem and it bleeds a bright yellow-orange latex. The flowers are large, white and crumpled like tissue, opening for a day. The genus name comes from a Greek word for a clouding of the eye, which is an unlucky coincidence — see the warnings.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Argemone seeds and seed oil contain sanguinarine and have caused epidemic poisoning where they contaminated cooking oil. This extract is made from the aerial parts, not the seed. Do not exceed the suggested amount and do not use during pregnancy.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
