A single-herb liquid extract of dried top of Daucus carota, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Wild carrot is the ancestor of the garden carrot, and its root shows it — white, tough, forked and strongly aromatic. The flower is the familiar flat lacy white umbel, and in most plants there is a single tiny dark purple floret sitting dead in the centre of it, which is a useful confirmation. As the seed ripens the whole umbel folds upward into a concave cup that looks exactly like a bird's nest. Its close relatives in the same ditch include poison hemlock, which is deadly, so this is a plant to buy rather than pick.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Wild carrot seed has a long history of use as an abortifacient. It can also make skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
