A single-herb liquid extract of dried seed of Benincasa hispida, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Wax gourd is named for what covers it. The mature fruit — a pale green cylinder that can weigh twenty kilos — develops a thick white waxy bloom over its skin, and that coating is effective enough that an unbroken gourd keeps for a year at room temperature without refrigeration, which made it a staple of the Chinese winter store cupboard. This extract is made from the flat oval seeds inside it.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
