A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaves of Laurus nobilis, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Bay is the laurel — the tree of the victor's wreath, of the Pythia at Delphi who chewed its leaves, and of the word laureate. It is a Mediterranean evergreen that will make a tree of ten metres if left alone, with stiff dark leaves whose edges ripple slightly. Fresh leaves are noticeably bitter and only mellow after a few weeks of drying, which is why bay is one of the few culinary herbs that is genuinely better dried than fresh.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Bay leaves must be removed before eating and are never swallowed whole — the stiff leaf does not soften and can injure the gut. Not for use in pregnancy in more than culinary amounts. Bay may add to the effect of sedatives and lower blood sugar.

Reported interactions: Major Interaction with Medications for pain (Narcotic drugs): The body falls apart some medications for pain to get out of them. Bay might lessen the speed of the process the body throws off some medications for pain such as meperidine (Demerol), hydrocodone, morphine, OxyContin, and others. In this situation bay might strengthen the efficacy and undesirable effects of listed Narcotic drugs. Major Interaction with Sedative medications (CNS depressants): Bay as well as sedative medications can cause tiredness and somnolence. Concurrent using of the bay and sedative medications such as clonazepam (Klonopin), lorazepam (Ativan), phenobarbital (Donnatal), zolpidem (Ambien), and others can be the reason of a strong feeling of sleepiness. 

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
