About the plant

The blue water lily of the Nile roots in the mud and sends its pads and flowers up to the surface on long stalks. The flower is pale blue, with narrow sharply pointed petals arranged in a star around a dense yellow centre, and it keeps a strict schedule: open in the morning, shut by early afternoon, for three or four days running. That daily disappearance and return is why it saturates ancient Egyptian art — painted on tomb walls, carved into the capitals of temple columns, wound into funeral garlands, and strewn over the coffin of Tutankhamun when it was found.

Glycerite: Nymphaea caerulea dried flower, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Apply a small amount directly to clean, intact skin with a fingertip or a cotton pad. You can also add it to a cream or oil of your own — shake before each use, as the extract does not dissolve in oil. Patch-test on a small area first and wait 24 hours before wider use.

Warnings

For external use only. Do not take internally. Not available for shipment to Louisiana — state law (La. R.S. 40:989.2) prohibits products containing Nymphaea caerulea. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use on broken skin, open wounds or damaged skin. Discontinue use if irritation, redness or a rash develops. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
