A single-herb liquid extract of dried herb of Scrophularia nodosa, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Figwort is a rank, square-stemmed perennial of damp woods and ditches that gets very little attention because its flowers are tiny, globular and a dull maroon-brown, and its whole scent is faintly unpleasant. That is deliberate: it is pollinated almost entirely by wasps, which the smell attracts. The species name refers to the rhizome, which is knotty and studded with hard rounded tubers.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use if you have a heart condition or take digoxin — figwort contains cardioactive glycosides. Not for use in pregnancy. Do not exceed the suggested amount.
