A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaves of Lophatherum gracile, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Dan zhu ye is not a bamboo, though it looks convincingly like a small one: a grass of shady banks and open woodland in southern China with broad lance-shaped leaves that have the parallel cross-veining of a bamboo leaf, growing about half a metre tall from a short rhizome with small spindle-shaped swellings on the roots. The leaves are cut before the plant flowers and dried.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Dan Zhu Ye is a grass — avoid it if you have a grass-pollen allergy. It has a diuretic action; take it with plenty of liquid. Not for use in pregnancy.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
