A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Eriobotrya japonica, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

The loquat runs on a schedule that looks wrong for a temperate fruit tree: it flowers in autumn and early winter, in fragrant clusters, and ripens its fruit in spring while everything around it is only just starting. It is an evergreen from central China with big leathery lance-shaped leaves, sharply toothed and deeply veined, covered underneath in dense rust-coloured wool. That wool has to be brushed or wiped off before the leaf is used, and doing so properly is a traditional processing step in its own right.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Loquat leaf must be de-haired before use; the fine leaf hairs irritate the throat.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
