A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Bidens pilosa, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Spanish needle is a wiry annual of the daisy family that has followed human disturbance into nearly every warm country on earth, though it began in tropical America. It carries small flowerheads of yellow disc florets, sometimes with three or four short white rays, on branching square-ish stems. What gives it its names — beggarticks, cobbler's pegs, black-jack — is the seed: a slim black achene tipped with two or three backward-barbed bristles that grip cloth and animal hair and travel. In East Africa the young leaves are one of the commonest gathered pot-herbs, cooked like spinach, slightly mucilaginous and faintly bitter.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
