A single-herb liquid extract of dried roots of Ligusticum porteri, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Osha is a Rocky Mountain umbellifer of high meadows and aspen groves between two and three thousand metres, with finely divided leaves, umbels of small white flowers, and a dark hairy crown of old leaf bases on top of a thick aromatic root that smells strongly of celery. It has resisted every attempt at commercial cultivation, so all of it is wild-dug, and it is on the United Plant Savers at-risk list. It also has two lethal look-alikes in its own habitat — poison hemlock and water hemlock — which is a good reason to buy it rather than gather it.

Glycerite: Ligusticum porteri dried roots, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Osha is a slow-growing wild plant that cannot be cultivated commercially and appears on the United Plant Savers at-risk list; we buy only from rotational wild harvesters. Not for use in pregnancy. Osha is easily confused in the field with poison hemlock, which is deadly — never wild-harvest it yourself without expert identification.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
