A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaves of Fragaria vesca, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

The wild strawberry is a lesson in what a fruit is. The red flesh is not fruit at all but a swollen flower receptacle; the true fruits are the little pips dotted over its surface, each one a dry single-seeded achene. The plant is a low perennial of woodland edges and banks across Europe and Asia, spreading by runners, with trifoliate toothed leaves that are silky and paler underneath. It is these leaves that are gathered. The species name vesca means thin or feeble, a comment on its slender growth.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Strawberry belongs to the rose family; avoid it if you react to strawberries or other rose-family fruit.
