A single-herb liquid extract of dried plant material of Santalum album, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Sandalwood is a parasite. It cannot grow alone: as a seedling it puts out attachments onto the roots of neighbouring plants and draws water and nutrients from them for its whole life, and plantations have to be interplanted with host species. The fragrance sits in the heartwood and the roots, and takes decades to develop, so a tree is not worth cutting before about thirty years. Wild Indian stands were cut so hard that the tree is now assessed as Vulnerable and its harvest is tightly controlled by Indian law.

Tincture: Santalum album, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Santalum album, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Santalum album is assessed as Vulnerable in the wild and its harvest and movement are controlled by Indian law; we buy only material with the paperwork to prove where it came from. Not for use in pregnancy, and not for use if you have kidney disease.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
