A single-herb liquid extract of dried nut of Torreya grandis, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Torreya is a yew relative, and its seed is unusually slow: about eighteen months pass between pollination and ripening, so a tree in summer carries two years of crop at once, this year's green and last year's ready to fall. Roasted, the kernel is somewhere between a chestnut and a pine nut. The grafted orchards around Kuaiji in Zhejiang have been worked continuously for over a thousand years and are recognised as a heritage agricultural system.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Torreya is a nut; avoid it if you have a tree-nut allergy. It has a mild laxative action — reduce the amount if the stool loosens. Not for use in pregnancy.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
