A single-herb liquid extract of dried root of Alpinia galanga, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Greater galangal is a ginger relative of Southeast Asia, and it is not a substitute for ginger and cannot be used as one. The rhizome is paler, harder and much more fibrous, with reddish rings visible in the cut face, and the taste is piney and resinous with a sharp citrus edge where ginger is sweet and hot. It is a foundation of Thai and Indonesian cooking, and it is what makes a tom kha taste the way it does.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Do not use if you have a stomach ulcer. Galangal may add to the effect of anticoagulants.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
