A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaf of Ginkgo biloba, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Ginkgo is the last of its kind. Its order flourished when dinosaurs did and every other member of it is extinct; this one species has no close living relative anywhere. The leaves are unmistakable — flat fans with veins that fork repeatedly and never form a network, no midrib at all, usually notched into the two lobes the species name records. It is deciduous, turns a uniform brilliant yellow, and then drops nearly the entire canopy within a day or two. It tolerates city air, road salt and root compaction better than almost any other tree, which is why it lines so many streets; planters use male trees, because the female's fleshy seed coat smells strongly of rancid butter when it falls.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Ginkgo can increase the risk of bleeding. Do not use with warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel or other anticoagulant and antiplatelet medicines, and stop use at least two weeks before any surgery or dental procedure. Not for use by anyone with a bleeding disorder or a seizure disorder.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
