A single-herb liquid extract of dried berries of Serenoa repens, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Saw palmetto is a low fan palm of the sandy pine scrub and coastal dunes of Florida, Georgia and the Gulf coast, forming vast dense colonies that spread by creeping stems along the ground rather than growing upward. Its leaf stalks are armed the whole way with fine sharp teeth, which is where the name comes from and why harvesting is done in heavy gloves. The berries ripen from green to blue-black in autumn and are picked by hand from the wild; individual clones in these colonies have been dated at several thousand years old.

Glycerite: Serenoa repens dried berries, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use by women, during pregnancy, or by anyone under 18. Saw palmetto acts on hormonal pathways and can interfere with PSA readings — tell your doctor you are taking it before a prostate test. It may add to the effect of anticoagulants.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
