A single-herb liquid extract of dried bark of Chionanthus virginicus, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

The fringe tree covers itself in fog. For two weeks in late spring a mature tree carries drooping panicles of flowers whose four petals are narrow white ribbons three or four centimetres long, so many of them that the whole crown blurs into a white cloud — hence old man's beard, the other name it goes by. It is a small understorey tree of the eastern American woods and an olive relative. The root bark is what is collected.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Do not use if you have a bile-duct obstruction or gallstones.
