A single-herb liquid extract of dried herb of Grindelia robusta, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Gumweed is a Californian perennial of coastal bluffs, roadsides and alkali flats, and it is impossible to mistake in bud. Before a flower head opens, the bracts wrapping it exude a thick milky-white resin that pools over the whole bud; touch one and it strings. As the head opens, the bracts curl sharply back and down, and the yellow rays spread out of the middle of the sticky mess. It tolerates salt and drought and grows where little else bothers.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Do not exceed the suggested amount — large amounts of gumweed irritate the kidneys. Not for use in pregnancy or by anyone with kidney disease. Grindelia grows on selenium-rich soils and can accumulate it.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
